Epilepsy Blood Draw - 19th September, KCC Park (Melways Map Reference 128 H 12)
The AMCV is holding a
blood draw at our 20th Championship Show for epilepsy research
currently being done at Animal Molecular Genetics Laboratory, University of
Missouri – College of Veterinary Medicine. The Alaskan Malamute Club of America
held a blood draw at their nationals last year for the same research project.
For further information on this research visit
http://www.canine-epilepsy.net then click on
research. There are just 3 easy steps for you to participate with your dogs to support Epilepsy research: 1. Bring as many pedigreed Alaskan Malamutes as you can to our Championship Show (not just show dogs - we need all pedigreed Malamutes!) 2. Bring a copy of each dog's pedigree papers 3. Submit the copy of the pedigree with the above Epilepsy blood draw form filled out for each dog
The cost will be $5.00 per
dog, which will go towards the cost of holding the blood draw as well as the
shipping of the samples to the USA. Participants will be given 1 raffle ticket
per dog which gives blood, this ticket will then go into a special Blood Draw
Raffle at the end of the day. We have some fantastic raffle prizes already but
ANY DONATIONS towards the Blood Draw Raffle would be greatly appreciated. We need samples from dogs affected, unaffected and related to affected dogs (i.e. ANY DOGS) - information will be kept confidential.
If you wish to participate a
copy of your dog’s pedigree must be submitted with the official form (download
by clicking on the link above). Please note that all pedigree information and
forms will be sealed into envelopes (for confidentiality) and only identified by
the dog’s name and owner’s surname. Each sample will be given a number which
corresponds with the appropriate envelope.
